Marathon officially named McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Memorial Run

McAllen District 1 Commissioner Scott C. Crane, an ardent community leader passed away unexpectedly on December 14, 2014. He was only 50 years old.

He is survived by his beautiful wife Sasha, daughter Taylor and son Diego.

Crane was first elected as commissioner in 2005, and in 2013 was re-elected to serve his third term. He served on various community boards and was a big supporter of other groups like the McAllen Economic Development Corporation and the McAllen Boys & Girls Club.

Scott, an avid long-distance runner, was pivotal in creating the McAllen Marathon, which will now be named in his honor. As a dedicated small businessman for 23 years, he was the owner of Carwash Carwash and Tesoro Metals Recycling.

Scott spent most of his life serving the community he loved, our great City of McAllen. He will always be remembered as a devoted family man and an exceptional public servant. Scott was a passionate fan of the arts, he loved our parks and he did his best to improve life for the community members of McAllen.

He loved his employees, his friends and most of all his family.
